Teams & Members
How roles, permissions, and team-scoped visibility work in Koalr.
Roles
Every member of a Koalr organization has one of six roles:
| Role | Description |
|---|---|
| Owner | Full access to all features, settings, billing, and member management. Cannot be modified by non-Owners. |
| Admin | Full product access + can manage members and integrations. Cannot change Owner roles. |
| Coach / Executive | Read-only access to org-wide metrics for reporting and oversight. No access to settings. |
| Manager / Scrum Master | Team-scoped access. Can view individual PR metrics for their own team. No access to org settings. |
| Developer | Access to team-level DORA metrics and service catalog. Cannot view individual metrics for other developers. |
| Viewer | Read-only access to team-level metrics. Cannot make any changes. |
Visibility settings
Navigate to Settings → Visibility to configure data visibility for your organization.
Koalr offers two visibility modes:
- Full Transparency — all roles can see individual developer metrics (PR cycle time, coverage attribution, reviewer workload). Recommended for most teams.
- Role-Based Access — Viewers and Developers are restricted to team-level aggregates. Admins and Managers retain full individual-level access.
This setting exists for GDPR compliance and to prevent developer performance surveillance use cases.
Managing members
Inviting members
Go to Settings → Members and enter the email address in the invite form. The invitee receives an invitation email and is billed as a contributor on acceptance.
Discovered members
Koalr automatically discovers contributors from connected integrations (GitHub PR authors, Jira assignees, Linear members). You can promote discovered contributors to active contributor slots from the Discovered Members section of the Members page.
Deactivating members
Click the three-dot menu next to a member → Deactivate contributor. Historical data is preserved. The contributor slot is freed immediately.
Teams
Teams group members for scoped DORA metrics and deploy risk analysis.
Creating a team
Go to People → Teams and click + Create Team. Add members by name or GitHub handle.
Importing teams
Use Import Teams to pull team structure directly from GitHub Teams, Jira projects, or Linear teams. Koalr matches members by GitHub login or email.
Contributor counting
Each active member counts as 1 contributor. Bots, service accounts, and deactivated members do not count. Billing is per contributor per month. See Pricing for plan limits.
